It wasn't clear whether using the bonuses would automatically take away a star, when I used the shuffle feature, it seemed impossible to earn all 3 stars, better instructions were definitely needed in this game!Īs you progress, Bonuses are added, such as a Board Reshuffle, an Undo, a Hint feature that finds similar tiles, a Torchlight to highlight the available tiles, and a Lightning bonus that removes several pairs of tiles. There is a blue circular meter that fills when you make fast, consecutive matches, but no timer that I was aware of so your guess is as good as mine? Most of the levels required you to remove all of the pairs of Mahjong Tiles, some levels required you to uncover Treasure Tiles or Big Treasure Tiles to complete the level regardless of how many normal tiles remained. The goal is to earn 3 Stars, but there was no real explanation as to what the criteria were to earn all 3 stars. I thought this was a decent feature and I enjoyed reading about the various Egyptian Artifacts. You will collect fragments and drag them onto the artifact outline and once reconstructed, the artifact will explain a fun fact about the item, as well as reward you with Gold Coins. There are 32 Artifacts to uncover on the Mahjong Levels. I gave up because it isn't much fun to have to replay a level over and over with the same "no possible moves remaining" scenario! After exhausting all reshuffle bonuses, I replayed the level a couple more times with the same result. Neither mode of difficulty explained the differences between the two modes, which was the case with most of the features!īy the time I reached level 12, I had to use all 5 Reshuffle bonuses because tiles remained stacked upon one another with no possible moves, 5 different times. I started out playing on the Normal Mode of difficulty but after playing levels 7-10 several times without receiving more than a single star, I switched to the Easy Mode. IT'S NOT MUCH FUN WHEN YOU HAVE TO KEEP USING THE RESHUFFLE BONUS At first, I was rather enjoying this Egyptian-themed Mahjong game.until I reached the seventh level. I am so pleased with myself that I’m going to play the game again but with the points accrued from the scrap book. I ended up with hundreds of points and was able to breeze through the “devil” level 83 and complete the game which is 120 levels. It looks like a book wrapped in two big rubber bands, but which are probably leather given the time period. The scrapbook is found on the lower left of the map. This is in addition to any points earned in the game. Here’s what happened: I found out that one can earn 500 points after every level by completing the puzzle in the scrapbook. After reading some of the reviews for this game I decided to do a bit of investigating and found some information that caused me to re-load the game and sally forth to complete the series. I gave up and deleted the game from my computer, but I was still ticked off and grumbling. Pay Attention When You Start the Game! When I reached Level 83 I was not able to get through it even though I tried for two days. The eye candy alone is worth the price of admission. Flowers, jewelry, scarabs, symbols, rainbow colored Chinese writing, and more. One is a menacing crocodile that makes the croc in Peter Pan look like a wimp. Because we are not given all the available tiles at once, as you move through the levels more and more beauties show up. Wrong! Oh, did I mention that you have to collect enough gold to buy those nifty tools? Yeah, it's easy to find yourself on the short end of the rope, having to replay the level until you get it right. We are given plenty of tools down the right hand side, like Shuffle, Hint, and some others I can't remember right now that make it seem as if you can't lose. The objective is to collect shards that then fit into images of the usual Egyptian artifacts. Very frustrating, and I nearly deleted the demo because I thought the rest of the game would be the same.įortunately, I persisted and whoa! The game gets quite a bit more challenging after level 7. BEAUTIFUL NEW TILES ADDED AS WE PLAY THRU THE LEVELS If you're a majhong fan, the first 6 levels are all a tutorial for the uninitiated.
